As men and women enter their forties and fifties, declining hormones may begin to affect mood, weight and sex drive. New Wellness provides hormone therapy tailored to your individual body chemistry. We do this through treatment with natural, non-synthetic hormones.

Women (Menopause)

Symptoms

Menopause is a condition that occurs in women as they end their reproductive phase of life. For some women, symptoms occur before they stop menstruating, while other women don’t experience the symptoms until after their period ends.

While some women transition through menopause without any noticeable effects or changes, that is not the norm.  Our health care professionals are highly trained in the effects declining hormones can have on a woman’s life.

Common symptoms include:

  • Vaginal dryness
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Changes in libido
  • Hot flashes or night sweats
  • Depression or mood changes
  • Sleep disruption
  • Irregular periods
  • Thinning hair
  • Dry skin
  • Weight gain
  • Breast tenderness

Causes

Hormonal changes are a normal part of every woman’s life.  From the tumultuous effects of pubertal hormone changes throughout adolescence, to the hormone changes women experience during and sometimes following pregnancy, to the often frustrating effects of hormonal variations women experience in the ‘perimenopause,’ and the rollercoaster effects of menopause, hormones are a constant driving force.

Menopause is caused by a decline in estrogen and progesterone, the hormones that regulate your menstruation and fertility. As women’s bodies lose ovarian hormone production, unpleasant symptoms can develop. Menopause is sometimes induced prematurely due to a hysterectomy, chemotherapy, pelvic radiation therapy or autoimmune disorders.

These hormonal changes can sometimes wreak havoc on women’s lives. If you are suffering from symptoms of hormone imbalances and have been told it is ‘normal,’ or that ‘nothing is wrong,’ our customized hormone replacement therapies may be just what you need.

Men (Andropause)

Symptoms

Andropause, sometimes called “male menopause,” is a condition that occurs in some men as they reach their forties and fifties. The symptoms are often dismissed as depression, or part of ‘normal aging.’

Even younger men can experience hormone changes due to the stressful nature of their everyday lives and the toll those chronic stresses can have on their hormone systems.

Testing and treatment options that don’t involve anti-depressants are available.  Our customized program may be the key to regaining the vigor and vitality that seems lost.

Declining hormones can lead to the following symptoms:

  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Low libido
  • Weight gain
  • Hot flashes or night sweats
  • Fatigue
  • Irritability and mood changes
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Thinning hair
  • Sleep disruption

Causes

Declining hormones, particularly testosterone, result in symptoms of andropause. If you have adrenal fatigue or hypothyroidism, your symptoms may be exacerbated.

Adrenal Fatigue

Are you always tired and fatigued? Do you suffer from poor digestion and non-refreshing sleep? Does life feel too overwhelming?

While many medical professionals don’t accept adrenal fatigue as a medical diagnosis, we know it’s a real condition that affects your day-to-day quality of life.

Symptoms

Adrenal fatigue leaves you feeling exhausted and stressed, but it may also leave you feeling wired during certain parts of the day. Common symptoms include:

  • Brain fog and forgetfulness
  • Difficulty getting out of bed
  • Lack of energy in the morning and afternoon
  • Energy in the evening
  • Reluctance to go to bed when tired
  • Lethargy
  • Gaining hard-to-lose weight, particularly around the waist
  • Lightheadedness, especially when getting up from being horizontal
  • Depression
  • Having trouble recovering from illness
  • Bloated belly
  • Causes
  • Poor diet
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Chronic stress

Our Approach

Sex Hormones

Personalized Testing

The first tool we use is assessment. In order to properly assess you, we need to get to know you first. We want to understand who you are and what brings you joy. The next tool we use is lab work.

We use a variety of sophisticated, high-tech lab tests to help determine the root cause of your health problems. When these test results are combined with the patient assessment, symptoms and medical history, a clearer picture begins to come into focus. This allows us to create a program tailored to your individual body chemistry.

Treatment Program

As men and women enter their forties and fifties, declining hormones may begin to affect mood, weight and sex drive. New Wellness provides hormone therapy tailored to your individual body chemistry. We do this through treatment with natural, non-synthetic hormones.

We want to do more than just “fix” you; we want to help you to stay well and avoid the need to seek treatment again! Our ultimate goal is to help you correct the hormonal disharmony that is robbing you of the ability to experience joy in your life.

Adrenal Fatigue

Personalized Testing

The first tool we use is assessment. In order to properly assess you, we need to get to know you first. We want to understand who you are and what your likes and dislikes are.

The next tool we use is lab work. We have at our disposal more than just everyday blood tests. We use a variety of more sophisticated, high-tech lab tests to help determine the root cause of your health problems, including saliva tests. While tests are quite helpful in building a more complete picture of what is going on inside you, they do not tell the whole story.

When test results are combined with a patient’s symptoms and medical history, a clearer picture begins to come into focus. This allows us to create a program tailored to your individual body chemistry.

Treatment Program

Traditional treatment for adrenal fatigue includes anti-depressants, diet pills, caffeine, stimulants, or diuretics. They only mask the problem. Your body is unique, so you shouldn’t have to get a one-size-fits-all treatment. We provide individualized care to treat your adrenal fatigue. We can also offer treatment for thyroid problems, which is also part of the endocrine system and can affect your adrenal function.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hormones are made from cholesterol in the body, and they are secreted from a cell or gland. Hormones travel through the bloodstream to deliver messages to various parts of the body; they are an indirect connection between functions.

Hormones catalyze cell reactions by connecting to specific receptors throughout the body that are only able to connect to specific types of hormones. In other words, a hormone that controls a bodily function floats through the bloodstream and can only attach to receptors designated to accept that type of hormone.

Estrogen helps cells divide and multiply, including the week after menstruation. Progesterone, an important hormone produced by the ovaries, tells cells their function and their lifespan, and it peaks 14-28 days into the menstruation cycle to regenerate the lost uterine lining. It is also a diuretic. Progesterone surges in the female body come from the release of an egg, but at menopause, this ceases to happen. While estrogen also begins to decline, progesterone declines more rapidly.

Progesterone is needed to make cortisol–a fuel that is replenished overnight and helps your circadian rhythm, which is your body’s sense of day and night. Cortisol also reduces inflammation. Progesterone also has a calming effect due to one of its metabolites that act on centers in the brain that can help with some women suffering from sleep dysfunction.

We see many patients suffering from symptoms of progesterone deficiency that are commonly mistaken for depression. Often they have been told that they have stress, anxiety, or depression, and are often treated with antidepressants, anxiety medications, or have been tested and told that nothing is wrong. While it’s possible that you truly do have depression, we’ve found that many times it’s not clinical depression, but rather hormones that your body experiences during different times of your life.

As we age, our hormones may decline. Hormone replacement therapy addresses the symptoms that you experience when your body no longer produces the hormone amounts needed to retain your vitality.

Medroxyprogesterone, which can cause a myriad of negative side effects and health problems.

HRT treatments are made through compounding, a process in which a doctor orders a specific medication tailored to your needs. The compounding pharmacist creates the medicine from scratch based on the prescription. This method of preparation allows them to create custom dosages, combine several medications in one ingredient, lessen effects, and if necessary, remove fillers that irritate you. They take raw chemicals and powders and can turn them into various forms such as sprays, capsules, cream, or gel.

While there are risks with any medical treatment, hormone replacement therapy treatments are generally safe.

Unfortunately, the greater medical community seems determined not to consider the possibility that hormonal changes related to aging, stress, and weight gain/loss can cause the myriad of symptoms that women experience. For most physicians, if their governing college refuses to accept new ideas, they follow along. There is a whole new world of treatment options for patients suffering from hormone imbalance, adrenal fatigue, and ailments caused by environmental toxins and nutrient depletion.

Hormone replacement therapy treatments are generally very safe and have few side effects. However, it can take a little time to find the right balance of hormones for you. While your hormones are still in the process of being balanced, you may find yourself with side effects such as mood swings, difficulty sleeping, breast tenderness, increased acne, and headaches.

Results vary between individuals and are not guaranteed

Some men and women going through andropause and menopause find that they do need to continue taking hormone replacement therapy treatments to retain their vitality, while others are able to wean off them. Our doctors will advise you on how long you should continue treatment.

Health insurance does not usually cover this type of treatment since it is considered elective.
